Villa Petalida 1
Petalida is a sanctuary on the small Cycladic island of Antiparos. It is a stunning waterfront property, within its own grounds on a south facing, low lying peninsula enjoying a privileged position with panoramic views of exceptional beauty of the Aegean Sea. The estate is the manifestation of our ambition to create an island sanctuary which is simple, private and safe. A place where family and friends can relax and charge their batteries. The Estate has two villas, each with their own guesthouse, completely independent and private. The Cycladic architecture with its sugar cube shapes allows every room to open to a terrace. An example of Greek elegance and sophistication. Petalida is fully serviced with local staff eager to please. Our cook is a master in cooking simple food with fresh local ingredients. We grow our own fruit and vegetables, make our own honey, wine and preserves and have our own chicken and fresh eggs. Our cultivations are organic and local fishermen and farmers ensure that Petalida has a good supply of local fresh fish and meat. The island has a permanent population of only about 800, most of who live in the main village. There are some 57 kilometres of accessible coastline with golden sandy beaches, pebbly coves and small remote bays with blue crystal clear waters. Antiparos has a temperate climate. The winters are mild, with temperatures rarely falling below freezing. The summers tend to be cool, influenced by the winds typical of the central Aegean that blow predominantly in August. Antiparos has no large hotels, no designer shops, no fancy restaurants, no clubs, no marina for large yachts and no serviced beaches. The town is a collection of small whitewashed houses with one street that runs from a square at the top of the village to the small port. Around the port and on either side of the street are numerous family run tavernas, small shops and places to sit and watch the world go by. An open-air cinema screens popular movies throughout the summer. Care has been taken to balance the power of the stunning outdoor landscape with the inner environment, played out in the soothing natural colours and raw materials used throughout the home. The design is classic and elegant where comfortable furnishings are accented with chic details. The villas are made for both indoor and outdoor living, surrounded by various inviting pergola-shaded lounges and dining spaces that enjoy different views of the landscape. Purity is the overriding theme of the decor.
